Prevention
- Same primary prevention as dental caries (oral hygiene, diet, fluoride)
- Prompt definitive treatment of deep caries to prevent chronic pulp involvement
- Adequate restoration sealing to eliminate microleakage pathways
- Regular radiographic follow-up of deep restorations and heavily restored teeth
- Monitoring of symptomatic or previously traumatized teeth for delayed pulp necrosis
- Avoidance of large amalgam fillings without pulp protection in proximity to pulp
