Prevention
- Correct tooth brushing technique — use soft-bristled brush, gentle circular/horizontal scrubbing at the cervical area, not sawing motion
- Wait 30-60 minutes before brushing after consuming acidic food or beverages
- Use low-abrasion, desensitizing toothpaste (RDA <100) as daily toothpaste
- Treat GERD and erosion — eliminate the acid source
- Wear an occlusal splint if bruxism-related tooth wear is contributing
- After professional dental whitening — use desensitizing toothpaste for 2 weeks pre- and post-treatment
- Regular dental monitoring to detect gingival recession and cervical defects early
