CASE-015: One case, two records

For seminar debriefs: compare the route students took from questions to examination instead of reconstructing it from memory.

Previously the «Case history» window in CASE-015 grew as the student questioned the mother, repeating entries that the visit log already held. It now carries the subtitle «Patient document before this visit» and holds only what was known before the student started: the ambulance handover, the mother's first account of the morning spell, and the maternity-hospital discharge summary, with tetralogy of Fallot confirmed at one month and radical surgery planned at 6–9 months. Nothing the student does during the run changes it.

The sequence becomes evidence for the debrief

The second window, «Log», is subtitled «Your actions during this visit». Each question and examination finding is added there in the order the student made it. The answer panel says «added to the visit log», the header button counts entries, and the mother's menu shows progress through its 11 questions in CASE-015.

Three questions for the group

  • Ask a student to open both windows and read the visit log aloud: which lines tell the group something the patient document did not already say?

  • Put two students' logs side by side: the order of questions shows who asked about earlier spells before the examination and who went straight to it.

  • Finish with the document alone: what would the student have written into it after this visit?

The mother now finishes her sentence

Two of the mother's voiced answers used to be cut off before their recordings ended: HX-001 at 9.2 seconds of its 19.087-second recording and HX-009 at 7.8 seconds of its 9.056-second recording. The last line now stays on screen until the recording finishes, followed by a short pause. Skipping, muting or leaving the case still stops the sound at once. No case text, scoring or recording has changed.

The case text is Russian. English player messages label the windows «Case history» and «Log». Questions and findings made during the visit are read from the log, not from the unchanged patient document.
