Prevention
- Limit acidic beverage consumption to mealtimes only (not between meals)
- Use a straw when consuming acidic drinks
- Finish meals with dairy products (cheese, milk) which neutralize acid and provide calcium
- Rinse with water after consuming acidic foods or beverages
- Wait 30-60 minutes before brushing after acid exposure
- Seek medical treatment for GERD and eating disorders
- Use high-fluoride toothpaste (1450 ppm or higher) for protective effect
- Regular dental monitoring with study models or intraoral scans
